Shelley Baranowski is professor of history at the University of Akron, Akron, Ohio, USA. She has published extensively in the field of modern German history, particularly the Weimar Republic and National Socialism. In recent years, she has worked extensively in the comparative history of travel and tourism, as well as on the National Socialist leisure-time organization (Kraft durch Freude). She has recently held a fellowship from the National Endowment for the Humanities.
